We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our growing team. As a data scientist, you will be responsible for processing, analyzing, and managing large datasets using FME software and SQL. You will work in a small, collaborative team environment, playing a key role in developing and implementing data-driven solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your analytical skills to drive innovation in data management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, analyze, and manage large datasets using FME and SQL Server
  • Develop and optimize queries and databases to improve data processing efficiency
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement data-driven solutions
  • Perform data analysis to derive meaningful insights and support decision-making
  • Ensure data integrity, quality, and security in all projects
  • Contribute to an Agile team environment, participating in sprints and collaborative problem-solving
  • Support GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data processing (if applicable)
  • Document processes, findings, and solutions for internal knowledge sharing

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have Skills

  • Experience with Agile working in a team
  • Proficiency in Python
  • At least 3 years of experience in optimizing and tuning databases and queries
  • At least 3 years of experience working with FME software
  • At least 3 years of experience in analyzing data streams
  • At least 3 years of experience with SQL Server
  • Strong communication skills and experience with teamwork and project-oriented work
  • At least 3 years of experience in data analysis
  • High analytical capabilities to solve complex system problems
  • Dutch language proficiency at CEFR Level C2

Should Have Skills

  • Experience working with SQL and Oracle databases
  • Experience in reporting and data visualization
  • Experience with scripting languages like Shell, Perl, or Python
  • Knowledge of business processes, particularly those of the Flemish Government (after induction)

Nice to Have Skills

  • Basic knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
  • Experience working in a small team
  • Strong ability to abstract and analyze complex problems
  • Strong communication and analytical mindset
  • Knowledge of the waterways sector
